Ganderbal, Apr 25: The Cultural Committee of Govt. Degree College Kargil, in collaboration with Indian Army, commemorated the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas with a vibrant celebration of “Rajat Jayanti.”
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of a new “Selfie Point” in Mulbekh, graced by esteemed veterans and inaugurated by local Ex-Serviceman Naik Mohd Hussain, Sena Medal (SM). This initiative stands as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of our armed forces, symbolizing unity and patriotism.
Nestled amidst the awe-inspiring Zanskar ranges of Kargil, the selfie point serves as a testament to the indomitable spirit of our soldiers while promoting tourism and patriotism in the region.
Embellished with hashtags #INDIA and #KVDRajatJayanti, the selfie point invites visitors to capture moments of reverence for our brave soldiers. Offering panoramic views of the rugged terrain and the serene beauty of the surrounding landscapes, it provides tourists with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the region’s rich history and natural splendor.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the participation of veterans, school and college students, as well as leaders and members of religious communities, serving as a poignant reminder of the courage and valor displayed by armed forces during the Kargil conflict. A vibrant cultural performance by students of GDC Kargil further enriched the event.
Beyond honoring the heroes, the selfie point aims to boost tourism in Kargil and showcase the region’s cultural heritage and hospitality. Its strategic location and breathtaking vistas are expected to attract tourists from across the country and beyond, thereby bolstering the local economy and instilling a sense of pride among the residents of Kargil.
Accompanied by Taira Banoo, Assistant Professor English, and Tsewang Lhamo, Physical Education Master, the students from Government Degree College Kargil actively participated in the event, highlighting the unity and spirit of camaraderie that characterizes the region.
