GCW Udhampur organises extension lecturer on online frauds

Udhampur, Oct08: The Cyber Jagrukta Club of Govt College for Women, Udhampur organised an Extension Lecture on “Online Financial Frauds” under the supervision of Prof. Jugal Kishore, Convenor, Cyber Jagrukta Club.
Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, Principal of the college, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The proceedings of the programme were initiated by Dr. Arun Gupta. He welcomed the Chief Guest and introduced the audience to the today’s Resource Person, Prof. Jugal Kishore, Assistant Professor in Mathematics.
Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, the principal of the college inaugurated the event in the presence of other faculty members. Addressing the audience, Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, encouraged the students to participate in the awareness lectures regarding Cyber Security and related domains as it is of utmost importance to stay updated in the present digital age. She also appreciated and motivated the organisers  of  Cyber Jagrukta Club to conduct such activities on regular intervals to create awareness among the students regarding the Modus Oprandi employed in the execution of online financial frauds.
Further she affirmed that the college shall continue to organise such events in future also and the Cyber Jagrukta Club of the college would be provided full support for organising such events to keep the students aware about the pros and cons of the ever-changing digital domain.   
Prof. Jugal Kishore, Resource person on the occasion, made the students aware about the differential modus Operandi of the online Financial frauds being executed by the fraudsters as per guidelines issued by Reserve Bank of India, Ombudsman and suggested steps and measures  to counter such digital frauds. In his talk, he exhorted that the due care should be taken while making online Financial transactions and sharing sensitive information like Aadhaar Cards, Pan Number, OTP, Passwords etc as this may lead to potent financial frauds at the hands of the online Financial fraudsters employing various tactics to divulge such information to use it for their sinister plans in multiple crime dimensions.
More than 100 students attended the lecture and the Role of the NCC cadets is highly commendable in the management of the events.
At the end the formal vote of thanks was given by Prof. ShamaRani , Member, Cyber Jagrukta Club. Prof. Shallu Jasrotia, Prof. Paramjit Singh, Prof. Pooja Bharti, other members of Cyber Jagrukta Club were also present on the occasion.
