Gbl abuzz with Mahila sabha, health camps & plantation drives

  Ganderbal, Sep 24: Continuing the momentum of Sewa Parv, Ganderbal district Wednesday witnessed a series of impactful programmes and activities focused on community empowerment, health, education, environment, and awareness. As per a statement issued here, the day’s main highlight was the Mahila Sabha cum Disaster Management Awareness Programme held at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal. Women participants were sensitized about the significance of preparedness, planning, and coordinated response during disasters. Resource persons emphasized disaster resilience under the theme “Plan, Prepare, Think, Act, and Survive”, urging participants to adopt proactive measures to safeguard themselves and their families. The programme was attended by the General Manager DIC, Assistant Commissioner Development, officials from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), besides a large number of women. The interactive session also included demonstrations and practical tips for minimizing disaster risks. In the education sector, Government Degree College Ganderbal, GCET Safapora, and Degree College Kangan organized essay and painting competitions on the theme “Swachhata Hi Sewa Hai”, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students.    Likewise, Government College of Physical Education, Gadoora Ganderbal organized a rally under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan to raise awareness against drug abuse, with active involvement of students and faculty. Under agriculture and allied sectors, awareness programmes were organized to familiarize farmers with various government schemes and initiatives.    Additionally, the ParaVet Training Institute, Ganderbal conducted a specialized training programme for ParaVet trainees on departmental schemes and services.   Plantation drives were also carried out across educational institutions and government departments, reinforcing the message of environmental sustainability. Meanwhile, ICDS Ganderbal continued its activities under Rashtriya Poshan Maah with the theme “Breastfeeding and Complementary Feeding”.   Awareness camps were conducted across Anganwadi Centres, focusing on early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and nutritional benefits of complementary feeding. Pregnant and lactating mothers, the main target group, were counselled and motivated through interactive sessions. The multifaceted programmes of the day highlighted the district administration's commitment to promoting health, education, environment, and community welfare while fostering active citizen participation under the spirit of Sewa Parv-2025.
