New Delhi, May 10: In a proud moment for the medical fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Mir Mujtaba Ahmad, a distinguished Surgical Gastroenterologist, has been conferred with the prestigious Dr. N Rangabashyam Gold Medal for Academic Excellence.
This is the first time that this honor has been bestowed upon a Surgical Gastroenterologist from Jammu and Kashmir.

The award was presented to Dr. Ahmad at 22nd convocation of National Board Of Medical Examinations convened on 10th May at Vigyan Bhavan New Delhi. The President of India Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest of the function.

Dr. N Rangabashyam Gold Medal is a prestigious accolade awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievements in the field of surgical gastroenterology. Dr. Ahmad’s achievement not only reflects his personal dedication but also highlights the growing prominence of medical professionals from Jammu and Kashmir on the national stage.

Dr. Ahmad has completed his super specialisation in the field of surgical gastroenterology from SKIMS Soura and completed his dissertation under Prof. Omar Javed Shah, renowned figure in the speciality of surgical gastroenterology.

Dr. Mir Mujtaba Ahmad, currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, is set to make a significant impact on patient care. With his specialization in Hepato-Pancreato-Bilary diseases, Dr. Ahmad’s expertise promises to elevate the standard of care for patients in the region.

Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, Dr. Mujtaba Ahmad highlighted the importance of academic rigor in providing the best possible care for patients. “Receiving the Dr.N Rangabashyam Gold Medal is a humbling experience. This would not have been possible without the support of my family who stood by me, were there every step of the way, and celebrated this achievement with me,” said Dr. Mir Mujtaba.
He also extended his appreciation to his mentors, colleagues and friends for their support and guidance.
