Ganderbal, Jan 04: Resentment is brewing up among the residents of the Dang Mohallah Rahke Rabitar area of the Wakura Tehsil in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district over the non-availability of a footbridge over a nallah.
The residents of the area said they are left with no option but to temporarily use a dilapidated bridge which poses a grave threat to people’s lives. This nallah connects the area with Tulla Mullah Kheer Bhawani.
“The condition of this footbridge is such that it scares every passerby. We use it as a shortcut as the alternate routes are very long and consume a lot of time,” Arshid Ahmad, a local of Dang Mohallah Rahke Rabitar, told Rising Kashmir.
The locals said the women, children and elderly people have to seek the assistance of young ones to cross the footbridge.
“We have several times requested the authorities to provide us with a footbridge but our pleas continue to fall on deaf ears,” a local woman said. They have appealed to the administration to provide them with a concrete and strong footbridge.
Tehsildar Wakura, Dr Omar Farooq told Rising Kashmir that he would visit the area and review the condition of the footbridge. “The issue will be resolved soon,” he said.
