Ganderbal, Mar 06: On Monday, residents of Yechhama in Kangan Tehsil of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district appealed to the R&B department to macadamize the link road from National Highway to Jamia Masjid Shareef.
Locals and drivers reported that the authorities have failed to address the non-macadamization of the 0.75-kilometer-long internal link road, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and transporters. Despite approaching higher authorities multiple times, they claimed that their grievances have gone unheard.
In 2016, a bridge was constructed over Nallah Sindh in Yechhama village, but the internal road was left unfinished after the completion of the bridge, resulting in ditches and potholes that pose an accident risk, especially during the rainy season.
Passenger vehicles have also incurred heavy damages due to the road’s dilapidated condition, forcing drivers to avoid plying vehicles on the road, which has resulted in hardships for students and passengers.
The Executive Engineer of the R&B division Ganderbal, Tatheer Manzoor, assured that the residents’ genuine issues would be resolved promptly.
