District administration Ganderbal on Saturday has imposed a blanket ban on the sale, storage and use of electric appliances “to avoid unnecessary load on transformers”.
An order issued by the district development commissioner Ganderbal a copy of which lies with Rising Kashmir in with of the fast approaching winter season and to avoid any collateral damages to electric supply (Transmission lines/Transformers) due to heavy load on Transmission system by use of heavy heating appliances which are not permissible and whereas it has been apprehended that non-judicious us of electric appliances such as blowers, heaters, Radiators etc may cause damages to Transmission lines due to heavy load resulting in disturbence in the hassle free power supply and Whereas by using of above mentioned electric appliances there is every apprehension of the short circuits which ultimately resulting fire incidents during winter season due to which loss to life and property.
Therefore, in order to provide hassle free electric supply to consumers as well as govt office’s and Hospitals of district Ganderbal and to avoid unscheduled power cuts thereby causing inconvenience to general public and disruption of services of emergent nature and particularly patient-care .I Mr Shayambir (IAS) district magistrate Ganderbal in exercise of power’s vested in me by vertue of section 144CrPC of 1973 here by impose blanket ban on the storage sale possession and use of heavy Heating appliances such as blowers, heaters, Radiators, etc within the territorial jurisdiction of district Ganderbal with immediate effect, The order further reads.
He said any body violates the government oder will be dealt as per law.
Pertinently during winter months people across Kashmir use heating gadgets lead to heavy load on the available electricity causing inconvenience to the general public in the form of unscheduled power cuts.
