Kashmir coined history in golden words by successfully organizing biggest event of its history in form of recently concluded G20 Tourism summit. All the departments deserve kudos for successfully organizing the global event and hosting the delegates of global repute successfully.
Tourism Department of Kashmir deserves special mention and appreciation when it comes to successfully hosting the G20 tourism summit in Kashmir. Directorate of Health Services Kashmir was the key department in providing well organized health facilities during G20 event.
The scenic venue of Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) came alive during the vibrant G20 tourism summit; the SKICC deserves all the applause as it has now become the global destination of event hosting. SKICC proved to be a great and memorable venue for the Mega event.
Another star attraction was the display of the richness of arts & crafts reflecting the Jammu & Kashmir’s bountiful culture through their skills & art by Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM). Umeed market place & Millet cafe put up in SKICC wowed the G20 delegates during the G20 summit held in Kashmir.
From exploring the mouth-watering delicacies of Millet prepared by Umeed women to shopping for authentic handicraft of J&K from the Umeed marketplace, the foreign delegates were all praises for the warm hospitality of Jammu and Kashmir.
Smart city projects being ably cooperated by Srinagar Municipal Corporation also provided G20 the apt launch platform. It was great to note, few days before summit Athar Aamir Khan, CEO of Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) and Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), said at a press conference that all the smart city initiatives, which were prioritized due to the upcoming G20 summit, have either been completed or are close to completion.
Significant progress has been made on various projects, including the renovation of Airport Road and Flyover, the illumination of the city, the wire-free and pedestrian-only Polo View market, and a section of MA Road. Notably, Gupkar junction has been completed, and the illumination of several buildings, such as Press Enclave and SPS Library, has also been completed. The SSCL CEO had stressed that 70 of the 120 smart city projects are currently in progress. Some have already been completed, while others are scheduled to be completed in June this year.
While all the other departments like Power Development Department PDD and Public Works Department PDD also deserves kudos. The matter of the fact is that people are now eagerly awaiting that successful conduct of G20 Tourism summit in Kashmir and great efforts by respective departments translates into a mega success of coming times. It is hoped that Kashmir becomes global investment hub and foreign tourism revives in Jammu and Kashmir. It should not be like pre abrogation days when Zubin Mehta concert happened in Shalimar and it yielded no results.
But the current hope is high that after the abrogation of article 370 and successfully holding of G20 Tourism Summit in Jammu and Kashmir, the prosperity of entire region goes up. Mr Jasrotia said that, “We are anticipating that Kashmir becomes symbol of economic boom and violence becomes a thing of past”. For time being it is opportune time to bask in glory of successful conduct of G20 Tourism summit.
