Srinagar, May 19: Ahead of G20 Summit, Kashmir is under a thick security grid and three- tier security has been set up around SKICC and other venues, while there will be no restrictions on public movement, police officials said.
On Friday morning, CRPF Commandos conducted a special drill in Dal Lake as part of security preparedness. Similar security was conducted by Marine Commandos (MORCOS) at the lake.
A police officer told Rising Kashmir that all arrangements have been finalized regarding the G20 Summit and they are on alert and want an incident-free event in the Valley.
“Tight security arrangements have been put in place around the venues including SKICC for peaceful event and there are multiple checkpoints in Srinagar to thwart ill designs of anti-national elements,” he said.
The officer said both police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have intensified patrolling, vehicle checking, and frisking at various flashpoints in Srinagar and other vital highways in the region.
The security plan has already been framed and accordingly the deployment of troops would remain in place for smooth conduct of the function across Kashmir.
“Drones and camera-fitted vehicles and CCTV would be used to monitor the overall situation during the G20 Summit and both human and technical means will be used to ensure incident-free event in the Valley.  SOG’s in civvies will be deployed around the vital points to keep an eye on suspicious persons,” he said.
The official said frisking of vehicles continued along Srinagar-Jammu highway near Qazigund and adjacent locations. Raids against the terror and its sympathisers will continue in coming days, he said.
Similarly in other parts of south and north Kashmir, adequate security measures are being taken to ensure peaceful event. Both army and the police have been asked to conduct night domination patrolling, especially on the highways adjacent to Srinagar.
Meanwhile, in Jammu region, security forces have been put on  high alert. Police along with paramilitary troopers were deployed in various parts of city to thwart any terror attacks.
A police officer at Jammu said security forces are high alert in Jammu. We conducted surprise checks at Vikram Chowk,  Channi, Narwal, Bathindi and other places by CRT Jawans as there were intelligence Inputs.
“Alert has been issued in bordering districts including Samba, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri etc. More nakas have been setup and additional jawans have been deployed at vital locations in Jammu city,” he said.
On Thursday, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar had said that all the security arrangements have been made for the upcoming G20 summit in Union Territory.
“All security arrangements for the upcoming event has been made. Anti-drone equipment is being set up. We are taking the help of NSG and the Army for the same. For the water body- Dal Lake – we will depute a team of MARCOS, also a Police team will be present there,” he said.
