Srinagar, May 19: The G20 delegates visiting Kashmir will be treated to at least 50 delectable dishes from Jammu and Kashmir to make their trip unforgettable.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said ahead of the G20 Summit all arrangements have been put in place at all the venues, including SKICC. “Food from both Kashmir and Jammu would be served to the delegates,” he said.
An official of the Hospitality and Protocol Department said that 31 cuisines from Kashmir and 19 from Jammu division will be served to delegates during their 3-day program.
The Kashmiri cuisine including Kashmir Haak, Rogan Josh (Spiced lamb curry, Kashmiri Pulao (Fragrant rice dish with saffron and dry fruits), Kashmir Chicken, Yakhni (Yogurt-based meat curry), Gushtaba (Minced meatballs cooked in yogurt gravy), Rista (Meat Balls).
“Harissa (Slow-cooked meat dish), Kashmiri Kebabs (Grilled meat skewers) NadruYakhni (Lotus stem cooked in yogurt grav), Muji Gaad (Fish cooked with radish), LyodurTschaman (Cottage cheese in spicy tomato gravy), Aab Gosht (Lamb cooked in a milky broth), Sheer Chai (Traditional Kashmiri pink tea), Shufta- Sweet dry fruit and nut dessert and Firni (Desert) etc.,” he said.
The official said from Jammu division, cuisines include Rajma Chawal from Bhaderwah (Kidney bean curry with rice), Kaladi Kulcha (Cheese and bread snack), Patisa (Flaky sweet made with sugar and gram flour), Dum Aloo (Spicy potato curry), Dogri Maani (Rice flour bread), Churma (Wheat flour sweet dish), Khajur Kofta (Date and nut dumplings, Kalaadi Cheese (Local cheese delicacy), Kheer (Rice pudding) and ChaneBhature Chickpea.
The official said there are many more delicious items that have been added from Kashmiri traditional bakery that include Sheermall, Roth etc.
Around 100 delegates are expected to attend the third G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar on between May 22 and 24.
Officials said the G20 Summit is expected to promote Kashmir internationally and give a new dimension to the valley’s tourism sector which is the backbone of the economy. They added that a record number of tourists are expected to visit Kashmir this year also.
