Pulwama, May 21 : Farmers from different areas of Kashmir have hailed authorities for their decision to showcase various agriculture products at several venues during third  G20 tourism working group meeting in Srinagar saying that it will open a window for the global marketing.
Abdul Majeed Wani, President All Saffron Growers Association Kashmir, said that displaying local agriculture products like Saffron, Walnuts or aromatic rice variety, Mushk Budji, is a welcome step.
He said that Kashmir has a distinction of producing unique agriculture products be it Apple, Saffron, Walnuts, Almond, Honey or other vegetable produce.
“Showcasing them at several venues during third G20 tourism working group meeting at Srinagar  will help in popularising them at a much bigger platform,” he said, adding that such events will surely give a boost to their global foray.
He further said this is what farmers were expecting from the government.
He said that G20 in Srinagar is about showing potential of Kashmir in terms of tourism, handicrafts, agriculture and other allied sectors so that every individual associated with these sectors will reap the benefit from overall economic progress and development.
He said that as a farmer and president of All Saffron Growers Association he appreciates government’s decision to showcase local agriculture products during third G20 tourism working group meeting in Srinagar.
Irshad Ahmad Dar, a progressive farmer and member of Kisan Advisory Board said that finding global market for local agriculture produce will strengthen farmers’ economy.
“ By exporting our agriculture produce we will get much higher rate as compared to local market,” he said, adding that G20 summit in Srinagar is one opportunity that government is eyeing to cash on.
He reiterated that Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, said that government will showcase tourism, agriculture, horticulture, dairy and fishery, handicrafts and other allied sectors of Kashmir during the event so that local produce gets a global attention.
He said that when a foreigner will see pure natural products of Kashmir it will entice him to know about it.
“ This will surely give a boost to the local produce,” he said.
