In a precautionary move, traffic movement has been halted at Minamarg and Sonamarg sides due to fresh snowfall and slippery road conditions at the Zojilla Pass on NH-1D. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of travelers until the weather improves and road conditions become manageable.
The Zojilla Pass, located in the northern Indian region of Jammu and Kashmir, is known for its challenging terrain, especially during the winter months. Recent heavy snowfall has blanketed the region, making the roads dangerously slippery and visibility poor.
Authorities have advised motorists to exercise caution and cooperate with the traffic management teams stationed at Minamarg and Sonamarg.
Kargil Police wrote on “X Platform, stating that due to the recent snowfall and the slippery conditions prevailing at Zojilla Pass on NH-1D, traffic has been temporarily suspended at Minimarg and Sonamarg. Authorities plan to reinstate traffic once the weather conditions improve.
