Jammu, July 14: Another fresh batch of pilgrims left for their journey to the Amarnath shrine under heightened security measures on Sunday morning.
The enthusiastic pilgrims set out for the holy shrine amid tight security from Panthachowk Srinagar base camp towards Baltal and Pahalgam yatra base camps. The enthusiasm among the Amarnath Pilgrims is high as the yatris from all across the country and abroad are visiting in large numbers to pay obeisance at the holy Amarnath cave.
A total of 4889 yatrirs on Sunday morning left from Base camp, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, for undertaking holy yatra from both routes of traditional Pahalgam and the Baltal route.
The enthusiasm among the pilgrims is such that Base Camp, Bhagwati has been packed beyond its capacity and the yatris are being shifted to nearby Asaram Ashram.
“Our Base camp has been packed beyond capacity and the yatris are now being shifted to nearby Ashram,” the spokesman said, while adding, “If the rush increases, the yatris would be shifted to other reserved centres already identified by the government”.
More than 14,000 yatris had a holy darshan of naturally formed ice-lingam yesterday. The spokesman said that that rush of Amarnath pilgrims has been increasing.
He said that some days the number of pilgrims goes down by around 500 to 1000, but it goes up the other day.
He said, the enthusiasm among the pilgrims is at its peak this year.
