According to details available,.The first earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred in Kargil at 3:48 pm local time. The same region was struck by another quake at 4:01 pm which measured 3.8 on the Richter scale.
As per the National Centre for seismology post on X, “Earthquake of Magnitude:5.5, Occurred on 18-12-2023, 15:48:53 IST, Lat: 33.41 & Long: 76.70, Depth: 10 Km ,Region:Kargil Ladakh.”
“Earthquake of Magnitude:3.8, Occurred on 18-12-2023, 16:0:32 IST, Lat: 33.34 & Long: 76.78, Depth: 10 Km ,Region:Kargil ,Ladakh”, it tweeted.
In another post it wrote, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.8, Occurred on 18-12-2023, 16:01:30 IST, Lat: 33.40 & Long: 76.58, Depth: 10 Km ,Region: Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir,India.”
