Srinagar, Aug 22: Syed Jamaat Ali Shah Shaheen, former Treasury Officer from central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district among several leaders joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday here in the presence of party president Mehbooba Mufti.
In a post on X, the party spokesperson said, “JKPDP extends a warm welcome to Syed Jamaat Ali Shah Shaheen, former Treasury Officer from Wali War, Ganderbal-Kangan.”
Shah’s joining the party brings valuable experience and strengthens PDP’s commitment to advancing Jammu & Kashmir, the spokesperson added.
Shah was also declared as the JKPDP contesting candidate for Kangan (ST) seat.
Former Principal & District Sessions Judge Mohammad Ashraf Malik also joined PDP at Srinagar headquarters, the spokesperson said, adding that Malik has been announced as the candidate for the Dooru assembly segment.
“His extensive legal experience and dedication to justice will greatly contribute to our mission for effective governance and development in Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
Similarly, Syed Bashir Ahmad, a two-time MLA and former minister from Pulwama, also rejoined the PDP. He was announced as a candidate for the Rajpora assembly segment. “His extensive experience and commitment to public welfare will greatly enhance our grassroots efforts,” the spokesperson said.
Speaking to the media persons, Syed Bashir said he is ready for the fight. “It is good to see that many faces are contesting elections. This is the beauty of democracy,” he said.“
The former MLA said the PDP is in alliance with some parties but not with BJP. “It is good to have an alliance between Congress and NC,” he said.
Bashir further said he will take the development of Rajpora to the next level. “I have carried out development of my constituency in the past as well,” he added.
