Srinagar, Nov 25: Mohammad Yaseen Naqash, a prominent figure in the region and a former officer of Food and Supplies Srinagar, breathed his last at Paras Hospital, Dalgate Srinagar on Friday, following a brief illness. The demise of this respected individual has cast a pall of gloom over Ganderpora, his hometown.
Naqash, known for his extensive service in the Food and Supplies department spanning over 35 years, held various capacities during his tenure. His contributions to the construction of Masjid Ali Sani (RA) as the head of the management body have also left a lasting impact.
The news of his passing led to an outpouring of grief in the local community. The deceased is survived by his son, Farooq Ahmad Naqash, a KAS officer in the Industries and Commerce cadre, and Meraj-ud-Din Naqash, a businessman.
His home became a gathering point for people from diverse backgrounds, including religious scholars, senior politicians, and bureaucrats from the J&K administration. The Nimazi Jinazah, funeral prayers, were offered after Isha prayers on Friday, attracting a multitude of mourners.
Family sources have announced a three-day mourning period, culminating in a congregational Fateh on Nov 26 (Sunday) at 11 AM. The Fateh ceremony will take place at the family graveyard near Shaheen Public High School on Nallamar Road, Ganderpora.
Mohammad Yaseen Naqash’s legacy as a social worker and his significant contributions to Masjid Ali Sani (RA) and the Food and Supplies department will be remembered by the community for years to come.
