Jammu, July 18: Former Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and former State President of Bharatiya Janata Party, J&K, Shamsher Singh Manhas, along with Ex-Councillor Kuldeep Chib, started the deep-drilling work of a Tube-Well at KB Nagar, Bantalab in the Jammu North Assembly Constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Manhas said that approximately 78 lakhs will be allocated for the construction of the Tube-Well, benefiting the residents of Bantalab and adjoining areas.
He underscored the significance of the Jal Jeevan Mission under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at providing safe and sufficient drinking water through individual household tap connections to all rural households by 2024. The program includes sustainability measures such as water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and grey water management, he said.
Highlighting the government’s achievements, the BJP leader said that over 75% coverage has been achieved, ensuring clean tap water to more than 14 lakh rural households. “The collaborative efforts involved in approving 102 new Water Supply Schemes reflect a participatory approach in achieving these goals,” he said.
Shamsher hailed Jammu & Kashmir’s progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission as a testament to the government’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of its citizens.
