Baramulla, Nov 22: The Forest Protection Force (FPF), on the night of November 21-22, intercepted a Tata mobile vehicle loaded with illicit timber on the Baramulla-Srinagar National Highway at Palhalan.
According to a Forest Protection Force official, the incident occurred around 12:45 AM when FPF personnel from Gamma Unit K-07 Baramulla intercepted the Tata mobile with registration number JK05A-4125. The vehicle was found to be loaded with 24 illicitly sawn Deodar logs, totalling 54.16 cubic feet.
The Forest Protection Force personnel pursued the vehicle from the Sopore Bypass to Palhalan on the Baramulla-Srinagar National Highway. “Subsequently, the driver of the Tata mobile was apprehended on the spot and handed over to the Police Post Palhalan. Simultaneously, the seized vehicle was transported to the FPF Unit Headquarters K-07 in Mazbug,” the official said.
