Srinagar, May 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department has made Aadhaar-based biometric attendance compulsory in all its offices across Kashmir to improve monitoring of staff attendance and ensure better accountability in administration.
According to an official circular issued by the Office of the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF), Kashmir, all subordinate offices have been directed to immediately install and start using the L1 RD Aadhaar-Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS).
The department said this step has been taken in line with directions from the Administrative Department issued on July 24, 2024.
The circular stated that the new biometric system will now be the main method for marking daily attendance. It also clearly mentioned that manual attendance registers will no longer be accepted.
Officials said the upgraded system includes advanced security features and hardware-level encryption as per UIDAI guidelines to protect biometric data and ensure its safety.
The circular has instructed all Conservators of Forests and Divisional Forest Officers to ensure that all employees mark their attendance daily using the installed biometric devices without fail.
