Srinagar, Oct 31: A joint party of security forces on Monday killed a terrorist and foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jumagund area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.
PRO (Defence) Srinagar, Col Emron Musavi said that based on specific input of JKP and further corroborated by other intelligence agencies, a Joint operation was launched in general area of Jumagund, Kupwara by Indian Army and JKP.
“At approx 10.25 AM today, taking advantage of bad weather and visibility conditions, a terrorist was seen trying to infiltrate onto own side of Line of Control,” he said.
Col Musavi said the alert troops kept terrorists under strict surveillance. When the terrorist reached closer to the ambush party, he was challenged. Sensing danger, the terrorist fired on the party and tried to flee, he said.
“The terrorist was however neutralized after the effective fire was brought down on him. A search of the area resulted in recovery of an AK series rifle and other war-like stores,” Col Musavi said.
Earlier on 26th October, security forces on Wednesday killed a terrorist and foiled a major infiltration bid along LoC in Karnah sector of the district.
