Jammu, June 01: Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain made a significant revelation during a function in Jammu, stating that the number of active terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir has dramatically decreased to “just 20 to 22.”
Swain expressed confidence in swiftly neutralizing these remaining militants. However, he also underscored the growing challenge posed by foreign terrorism, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance and strategic countermeasures. This disclosure comes amidst ongoing efforts by security forces to maintain peace and stability in the region. Jammu, June 01:
Swain remarked on the shift in focus from resident to foreign terrorism, noting that around five years ago, the number of active local terrorists was significantly higher, ranging from 150 to 200. He emphasized the need to address the infiltration of foreign terrorists, stating, “The real challenge is foreign terrorists who infiltrate here.”
Acknowledging the understanding of the modus operandi of foreign terrorists by J&K Police and other security agencies, Swain reassured, “We will soon defeat the enemy designs.”
Regarding security arrangements during the recent LokSabha elections, Swain mentioned that the police had hired 6000 vehicles to transport and deploy security forces across various polling stations in J&K.
