Srinagar, Dec 16: Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav on Saturday that the force has significantly escalated its surveillance along the borders in Jammu and Kashmir. He said there are 250-300 terrorists present at the launchpads waiting to infiltrate on another side.
Addressing the media during a Civic Action Program in Pulwama, IG BSF Yadav said that coordinated efforts of the BSF and Army in securing vulnerable areas to preclude infiltration bids effectively. The primary objective is to thwart any imminent attempts at infiltration by anti-national elements, he said.
“According to intelligence reports, 250-300 terrorists present at the launchpads waiting to infiltrate on another side. Despite this ominous threat, security forces remain on high alert, resolute in their determination to counter and foil any such attempts,” he said.
IG Yadav reiterated the unwavering commitment of the BSF to vigilance against infiltration, emphasizing that the force has consistently remained on high alert.
He underscored the crucial role of public cooperation in bolstering security efforts and expressed optimism about the increased connection between the people and the armed forces in recent years.
IG BSF said that BSF remains dedicated not only to safeguarding the borders but also to contributing to the holistic development of the region.
In addition to its primary security role, he said BSF is actively engaged in community development initiatives.
He highlighted the force’s efforts to empower the youth and women by imparting diverse skills, fostering financial independence among these segments of the population.
Earlier inaugurating the skill development programs on Basic Computer Course and Customer Relationship Management Course, IG BSF said BSF is committed to holistic development.
The occasion witnessed the donation of 15 computers, generously sponsored by ICICI Bank under Corporate Social Responsibility, to the Principals of Malangpora and Padgampora schools.
As part of the endeavor to bring healthcare accessibility to marginalized villagers, IG BSF inaugurated a free Medical Camp. Simultaneously, a Recruitment Rally cum Awareness program was organized to prepare the youth for forthcoming employment opportunities in the BSF and other armed forces.
The event saw the esteemed presence of Dr. Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST, along with senior officers from various Government of India departments and the Jammu and Kashmir administration.
Enthusiastically, around 3000 community members, including students, women, girls, teachers, and farmers from nearby villages, actively participated in the program.
Culminating in a vibrant and colorful cultural program presented by the students of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malangpora, and Padgampora School, as well as the troops of BSF, the entire initiative earned widespread appreciation and accolades.
The local youth and villagers, inspired by the success of the program, expressed their gratitude and earnestly requested the BSF to organize more such initiatives for the benefit of marginalized youth, elderly, women, and girls.
