Forces’ efforts, co-ord vital in ensuring peace in valley: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 29: Emphasising upon the continued efforts made by security forces in establishing peace across Kashmir valley, the Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Birdi on Friday said that the coordination among forces is vital in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere across the Valley. VK Birdi was speaking during a security review meeting on Friday.
Speaking at the pivotal security and crime meeting which was convened at the Police Control Room Kashmir, a comprehensive review of the crime scenario and the overall operational efficiency of all districts within the Kashmir Zone took place.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) officers, as well as intelligence officials, The meeting witnessed the active participation of Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSsP) from various districts within the division.
On the onset of meeting the participating officers briefed IGP Kashmir about the overall security scenario with the primary focus to garner insights into the existing security challenges and to devise effective strategies to mitigate risks.
The discussions encompassed various facets, including intelligence gathering, threat assessments, and emergency response protocols. The collaborative effort underscored the commitment of all stakeholders towards ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizens.
During the meeting, IGP Kashmir VK Birdi commended the unwavering dedication and commitment demonstrated by all senior officers in their respective capacities. He actively interacted with the officers, engaging in discussions regarding initiatives geared towards upholding law and order, as well as strategies for anti-terrorist operations within the valley.
Regarding the UAPA cases, the IGP stressed for improving the quality and techniques of investigation to ensure the conviction rate in UAPA cases. He directed for designating nodal officers for following the required process of UAPA cases to ensure that cases are submitted for judicial determination within prescribed period.
IGP Kashmir further emphasized the need for participant officers to enhance the quality of investigations pertaining to cases falling under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
The focus extended to areas such as property attachment in UAPA cases, instances of terror financing, terror-related incidents, cases involving Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS), narco-terror cases, detentions under the Public Safety Act (PSA), general crime cases, inquest proceedings, arrests of absconders, and actions taken under preventive measures, all of which were comprehensively reviewed.
The discussions encompassed various aspects of crime prevention, investigation techniques, and the implementation of proactive measures to curb emerging challenges.
IGP Kashmir reiterated the commitment of police to transparency, accountability, and the swift resolution of cases to ensure justice and maintain the safety and well-being of the public.
The security and crime review meeting saw the attendance of DIG BSF Satyabrata Mukherjee, DIG (Adm) CRPF Dinesh Kumar, DIG CRPF (Ops) P K Mehra, Asst Director IB Srinagar Akhlesh Chandre, DIG SSB Imtiyaz Ismail Parry, DIG IR Kashmir Abdul Qayoom, DIG CID Altaf Ahmed Khan.
DIG SKR Anantnag Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DIG NKR Vivek Gupta, SSP Srinagar Ashish Kumar Mishra, SSP PCR Kashmir Shoket Hussain Shah, and GS 01 15 Corps Lt. Col PK Singh, in addition to the participation of all other District SSPs of the Kashmir Zone.
