Samba, Apr13: On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Gurudwara Sahib Abtal in Ramgarh, Samba, to pay his respects. He prayed for peace, prosperity, happiness, and the well-being of all.
In his address, the Lt Governor extended his heartfelt greetings to the people and recalled the visionary teachings of Sri GuruGobind Singh Sahib Ji, emphasising the importance of a just and inclusive society.
“I bow to the venerable Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji. Guruji’s message of selfless service, truthfulness, sacrifice, equality, and universal love is an abiding source of inspiration for all of us,” the Lt Governor remarked.
He reflected on the significance of Baisakhi, noting that on this day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib formalised the concept of the Saint-Soldier by introducing the Amrit ceremony, thereby transforming Sikhs into a community of Saints-Soldiers, known as the KhalsaPanth.
The Lt Governor highlighted the pivotal role of the PanjPyare, the first five baptized Khalsa, comprising BhaiDaya Singh, BhaiDharam Singh, BhaiHimmat Singh, BhaiMohkam Singh, and Bhai Sahib Singh.
Encouraging the youth to emulate the ideals of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji, he urged them to strive relentlessly for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden.
He paid homage to the martyrs of the JallianwalaBagh massacre, praising their courage and supreme sacrifice as enduring inspirations for nation-building.
Additionally, the Lt Governor acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the farming community to the nation-building process.
The event was attended by Ajit Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Coordination Committee J&K; Amarjeet Singh, President of Gurudwara Sahib Abtal; senior officials from the Police and Civil Administration, religious leaders, prominent citizens, community elders, and individuals from various walks of life who also paid their respects at the Gurudwara Sahib.
