Acting tough against the social crimes, Police in Pulwama have arrested 05 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
A Police spokesperson said that acting on specific information regarding gambling at public place in Achan Pulwama. Accordingly, a police party from Police Station Litter raided the specific spot and apprehended the five gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat son of Ab Wahab Bhat resident of Kareemabad, Farooq Ahmad Pandith son of Gh Hassan Pandith resident of Zawoora, Mohd Shafi Rather son of Gh Mohd Rather resident of Panthachowk, Manzoor Ahmad Dar son of Ab Rahim Dar resident of Akhoo Kakapora and Mehraj-ud-din Ganai son of Ab Ahad Ganai resident of Akhoo Kakapora.
“Officers have also seized stake money of ₹64,200/- and playing cards from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”, he said.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Litter and further investigation has been initiated.
