Five drug peddlers held in Budgam

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police on Thursday arrested 05 drug peddlers and recovered contraband /Psychotropic substances from their possession in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A Police spokesperson said, “During routine naka checking/Patrolling at Gudsathoo near petrol pump Budgam, police party of police station Budgam noticed two suspicious persons carrying a nylon bag who on seeing police party fled from the spot however police party chased and caught hold of them professionally.”

” During preliminary questioning, they revealed their identity as *Amar Chand S/O Murti Ram R/O Arnahali Rohan Nawan shahr Punjab and Rohit kumar S/O Parasholam Lal R/o Mahal Gailan Shaheed Bagat Singh Nagar Punjab”, he said.

The spokesperson said that during search of said bag, poppy straw weighing about 9 KGS 300 gms were recovered from their possession.They were arrested on spot and accordingly, a Case *FIR No 303/2023* under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Budgam and further investigation taken up. 

Similarly, during Naka checking at Zabgul, police party of police station Beerwah noticed one *vehicle (maruti 800) bearing Registration No JK01H-0343* coming from Hanjiguru towards zabgul, upon seeing the naka party the driver tried to flee from the spot however police party chased and apprehended them tactfully. 

He said that during preliminary questioning the apprehended persons disclosed their identities as TARIQ AHMAD GANIE S/O Ghulam Mohd Ganie R/O Rakhwwachoo, Tanvir Ahmad Ganie S/O Ghulam Mohd Ganie R/o Rakhwachoo and Bashir Ahmad Dar S/O Abdul Ahad Dar R/O Sholipora .On search of said vehicle, poppy Straw like substances weighing about 10 kgs were recovered from their possession and the trio were arrested and the vehicle used in commission of crime also seized. Accordingly, Case *FIR No 131/2023* under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and further investigation taken up.
