Five drug peddlers held across Kashmir

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested five drug peddlers across Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

 

In Baramulla, Police Post Palhallan received an information through reliable sources that one person namely Abdul Kareem Lone son of Mohd Akbar Lone resident of Hajam Mohalla Palhallan is indulged in illegal drug trade and has hoarded huge quantity of illegal drugs at his house.

 

On receipt of this information, a police party led by Incharge PP Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan alongwith concerned Executive Magistrate raided the specific house. During search, 15.8Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the said house. Subsequentially, the accused person involved in the commission of crime was arrested. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Pattan and investigation initiated.

 

Similarly, a police party led by Incharge PP Wusan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Shri Mohd Nawaz-JKPS during naka checking at Goshbug Pattan arrested a drug peddler identified as Khurshid Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Gaffar Sheikh resident of Sangri Kanlibagh Baramulla. During checking, 70 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

 

Moreover, a police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi during patrolling at Chakrodi Khan crossing intercepted a suspicious person identified as Bilal Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Khaliq Sheikh resident of Batpora Sopore. During search, officers were able to recover 12 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 19/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated.

 

In Budgam, during naka checking at Alamdar colony crossing, police party of Police Station Cherar-e-sharief intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 90 grams of Charas like sticks wrapped in maize cob cover (7 No’s) and 1.6Kgs Cannabis like powder concealed in nylon bag were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Gowhar Ahmad Parra son of Ghulam Ahmad Parra resident of Sarban Charar-e-Sharief. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. In this regard, a case FIR No. 10/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Charar-e-Shareef & investigation has been taken up.

                                                                                       

In Kulgam, a Police Party led by SHO Police Station DH Pora at a checkpoint established at Yaroo Watigam Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 112 grams of Charas like substance was recovered form his possession. He has been identified as Mohd Altaf Mir son of Abdul Ahad Mir resident of Watigam. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.05/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered as Police Station DH Pora and investigation has been initiated.
