Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 5 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Kulgam & Sopore and recovered contraband substances alongwith cash.
In Baramulla, a police party led by Incharge PP Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Shri Mohd Nawaz-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Diver Crossing Pattan intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number HP54A-7549 with two persons on board. During checking, 80 grams of Charas like substance, 104 capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus and cash amount of Rs. 1,02,000/- were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Saqib Lateef Sofi son of Abdul Lateef Sofi resident of Sempora Sopore and Adnan Naseer Bisati son of Naseer Ahmad resident of Baghi Sana Badambagh Sopore. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
In Kulgam, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Devsar during naka checking at Cheyan intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended successfully. During search, 3 grams of Heroin and 75 Alprazolam tablets were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Parray son of Mohd Hussain Parray resident of Babapora, Qazigund. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In Sopore, officers at a checkpoint established at Chinkipora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05L-4279 driven by one person identified as namely Farooq Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Adipora Sopore. During search, 18.33Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession. Similarly, during naka checking at Shangergund near Netherfiled School intercepted a suspicious. During his personal search, psychotropic substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Rayees Ahmad Mir son of Muhammad Yousuf Mir resident of Check Brath Sopore. Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
