Anantnag, Feb 15: A residential house was partially damaged in a fire incident while three persons including a firefighter received injuries in the Achabal area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.
A Fire & Emergency official told Rising Kashmir that a fire broke out in a residential house of Mohammed Ishaq Parray, son of Ghulam Mohammad Parray, resident of Wanihama, Achabal.
“A firefighter and two civilians received injuries while dousing off the flames,” the official said, adding that the injured firefighter Manzoor Ahmad works as a Mechanical Driver in the department.
Two civilians, Manzoor Ahmad and Waseem Ahmad also received injuries while dousing the fire in a two-storey building with a tin roof, the official said.
He said the cause of the fire was gas leakage. “As per the preliminary assessment, the house was worth Rs 15 lakh. However, we were able to save the property worth Rs 12 lakh,” he said.
Meanwhile, another fire incident was also reported from another village in the district.
A Fire & Emergency official said that a government department building caught fire in the evening. “Firefighters from Achabal and Shangus are on job,” the official said.
