Jammu, Apr 14: Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Alok Kumar on Friday emphasized upon the officers to constitute special teams for giving demonstrations regarding fire safety measures in industrial establishments, educational institutes, and hospitals, as part of the ‘Fire Services Week’.
He also called for conducting essay competitions for students and debates on this year’s slogan ‘Awareness In Fire Safety For Growth Of National Infrastructure Agni’. The week from April 14 to 20 is observed to raise awareness among the public regarding fire prevention and precautionary measures. It is also being observed to commemorate those gallant firemen who laid their lives for safeguarding the lives and properties of people during rescue and firefighting operations.
The main commemoration parade was held at Gandhinagar Jammu and at the provincial and district levels during which rich tributes were paid to martyrs. Alok Kumar was the chief guest.
Following the commemoration parade, a two–minute silence was observed in memory of martyrs and wreaths were laid on the memorial by Alok Kumar and other senior officers and jawans of the department.
The Director also released a video presentation with the theme song, posters and banners with regard to fire services and issued instructions for organising sports events, free medical check-ups for the general public, evacuation drills, essay competitions, fire audits, and cultural events.
Similar functions were also held at Range Headquarters Batamaloo, Srinagar and at the command level.
