The Fire & Emergency Services Department has reinstated fire service vehicles and staff in Gund, following public outcry and media coverage by Rising Kashmir.
The move comes after residents urged authorities to restore the firefighting setup in Gund and establish a separate facility for Sonamarg.
The issue gained traction after Rising Kashmir highlighted the concerns of locals, who emphasized the urgent need for a dedicated fire service in the area. Within hours of the report, the department responded by bringing back the essential firefighting resources to Gund.
The swift action has been widely appreciated by the residents, who had been struggling with fire safety concerns due to the absence of a proper firefighting unit.
