Ganderbal, Apr 17: As part of nationwide awareness initiatives, Fire Safety Week was observed in the Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, drawing attention to the importance of fire prevention and emergency preparedness.
The event, organised by the local fire and emergency services department, witnessed active participation from school students, Trauma Hospital Kangan Employees, Police Demonstrations on fire-fighting techniques, use of extinguishers, and safety drills were conducted to educate the public on how to respond effectively during fire-related emergencies.
Officials highlighted the significance of fire safety measures in both residential and commercial establishments, emphasising the need for proper infrastructure, awareness, and timely response.
Speaking on the occasion, local officers reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and called on residents to cooperate with safety guidelines to prevent fire incidents.
Fire Safety Week is observed annually across India from April 14 to 20 in memory of the brave firefighters who lost their lives during the Bombay Dock Explosion in 1944, and to promote fire safety consciousness among the masses.
