Computers, Disaster Management stock housed in a hall at tehsil office Qaimoh in Kulgam was gutted in a fire incident on Sunday afternoon, an official said.
He said, the fire broke out in the hall that is being used for meetings and was housing some computers which gutted completely in the mishap.
“Five computers for the use of digitization and stock available for disaster management like blankets, tents, etc. have got damaged. Luckily the official records of revenue are safe,” says Bashir Ahmad, Tehsildar Qaimoh.
An official said that they immediately called fire tenders, and after many efforts from firefighters, they brought the fire under control.
Fire and Emergency Service officials told Rising Kashmir that they received an input about the incident at 14:37 hrs.
“We rushed to the spot where one structure of the tehsil office, a single-storey Pucca with tin roof, was involved in fire. After efforts, the fire was brought under control,” he said.
Computers, office records, and tents in a hall have got partially damaged and as per the preliminary assessment property worth 4 lakhs was damaged in the incident, and property worth 16 lakhs was saved from any damage.
“The official records that were gutted in the fire incident belonged to the old town area committee which was wrapped up, back some years,” Tehsildar added.
