Kupwara, Oct 23: In a devastating fire, as many as ten structures, including four residential houses, were reduced to ashes on Wednesday midnight in the Hayahama area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to reports, the fire broke out at midnight, rapidly spreading to nearby buildings. When the fire was brought under control, ten structures, including four residential houses, three cowsheds, and three shops, had been completely gutted.
The fire and emergency services were alerted immediately, with the officer in charge confirming that they received the call around midnight. “We rushed to the spot as quickly as possible, but by the time we arrived, the fire had already spread to multiple structures. After a long struggle, we managed to extinguish the flames fully,” the officer said.
The affected families have been left homeless and have reportedly lost all their belongings. “We have nothing left except the clothes we wore when the fire broke out,” said one of the victims.
In response to the incident, MLA Kupwara, Mir Fayaz, visited the affected area and assured families of assistance. “Initial aid has been provided, and I will make every effort to help rebuild their homes,” he said. He also mentioned that similar efforts will be extended to other regions that have recently experienced fire incidents
