Awami National Conference President, Begum Khalida Shah Monday appealed all regional political parties to get united against BJP in upcoming assembly elections as it has become imperative to unite and kick-out the saffron party outside the boundaries of J&K.

“The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is going bad to worse with the passing of each day. So there is a need to get united for the larger interest of J&K against BJP which eroded the constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir,” Begum Khalida Shah said while addressing media persons here in Srinagar.

She said there is no sign of assembly elections to be held, but whenever it will be, we all should assemble on the same page and give befitting reply to BJP who have tempered our identity badly.

She appealed to all regional mainstream political parties to fight assembly polls in unison under the umbrella of PAGD.

Notably PAGD – an alliance of several regional mainstream political parties was formed on August 4, 2019 with an aim to protect the constitutional status of J&K under Article 370 & 35(A).

The ANC President said though all political parties are doing preparations for assembly elections but “I want to appeal them to fight these polls in unison as it will help us a lot in containing the signs of BJP”.

“It was like a doomsday.

Government was smoothly going on. But they (BJP) took away the special status and thrusted anti-people laws on people of J&K,” she said and added, “The BJP want us to live in pipes like poor outside J&K lives in”.

She alleged that BJP is leaving no stone unturned to trigger communal riots in J&K. “I always desire to work in unison. We have to think how J&K will come out from the clutches of saffron party,” she added.

She also added post-abrogation of Article 370, the Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed rise in drug addiction, indecency, poverty, unemployment etc. so we all should ponder upon and unite to bring change in the region.

Without naming anyone, the ANC President Begum Khalida Shah said “The situation would have far better, if few opportunists had not resorted to betrayal for personal benefits,” she held.
