Bandipora Oct, 01: Over 58 FIRs were registered in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district since 2021 as part of police’s drive against drugs and drug peddlers.
While giving details, the district Police chief Mohammad Zahid said that 58 NDPS cases were registered since 2021 and 82 drug peddlers, including some big infamous peddlers, were arrested.
He said that those arrested included peddlers in poppy, charas, brown sugar and various intoxicants.
He said that 14.5 gm brown sugar, 22, 281 spasmoproxyvon tablets, 1534 codeine bottles, xxx RUM bottles, around 2 KG charas, 32 KG 610 gm of charas powder, 30 Tramafar injections, 11 KG bung leaves and 4.500 poppy straw were recovered since last year.
Deputy superintendent of police headquarter, Shafat Mohammad told Rising Kashmir that Bandipora police have arrested some infamous drug peddlers who have created a mess in the society and had lured youth towards this social scrounge.
He said that with public cooperation, police acted swiftly and nabbed some big fishes with recovery of huge quantities of charas, sposmoproxyvon tablets and anti-allergic chemicals.
He said that the drive against the drug peddlers is going to be more ‘extensive’ in the coming days.
He also said that Bandipora police assures people of the district that they will show the same kind of zeal in eradicating such menace by way of enforcing strict action against drug peddlers as per the relevant section and will carry forward the mission in the district.
