Festive fever grips city ahead of Eid ul Fitr: People swarm city markets on the day of Arafa

Srinagar, Mar 30: A sea of people swarmed the markets across the Srinagar city a day before Eid – ul – Fitr, which is likely to be celebrated on Monday. Throughout the day markets remained abuzz while shoppers in huge numbers could be seen busy in Eid related shopping.

The markets were adorned with colorful decorations and aura spreading joyous vibes in the atmosphere.

The local shopkeepers and store owners revealed that their business has increased manifold as there was a huge surge in sales of garments, ready-made items, children’s clothes, toys, groceries, confectionery and bakery items.

Since early Sunday morning, city markets started picking up the vibrancy amid hustle and bustle with men, women and children in large numbers thronging ahead of the upcoming auspicious occasion of Eid – ul – Fitr.

The entire day city was transformed into a spectacle of celebrations, echoing the joy and camaraderie reflecting from every corner amidst the atmosphere of festivity.

For the past few days the markets are reflecting the traditional charm and vibrancy transforming into a hub of cheer and festivity.

The markets were brimming with celebratory fervour that has gripped the entire valley during this auspicious time.

The heart of the Srinagar city, Lal Chowk, emerged as the focal point of the Eid preparations with shoppers indulging in different kinds of purchases to mark the occasion.

“Since it is the day of Arafa, the rush is likely to increase till evening. The atmosphere is ripped with festive fever in view of Eid ul -fitr. For the past two days markets have remained crowded with people buying clothes, sweets, and gifts. It marks the beginning of celebration and togetherness,”Mohammad Ibraheem, a shopkeeper at Lal Chowk said.

Many customers revealed that markets are offering a diverse range of clothing options, from traditional attire to trendy dresses and accessories, reflecting the fusion of heritage and contemporary styles.

“Eid is incomplete without indulging in shopping and purchasing especially for children. The market is abuzz with people enjoying shopping different stuff in preparation of the auspicious occasion. As the holy month of Ramadan nears to its end, business increases manifold in the markets,” Rouf Ahmad, a local store owner on the city outskirts said.

“Eid is a time for giving and sharing happiness. Purchasing new clothes and gifts for the loved ones marks an important aspect of Eid,” Munaza, a shopper at Residency Road said.

The vibrant ambiance of the Srinagar city markets during Eid ul-Fitr not only showcases the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir but also highlights the spirit of unity and togetherness that defines this auspicious occasion.

The city markets have come alive with vibrancy and excitement ahead of Eid ul-Fitr, offering a glimpse into the rich traditions and festive spirit of Kashmir. Amidst the hustle and bustle, the essence of togetherness and joy prevails, making Eid a truly memorable and cherished experience for all.

As the holy month nears to an end, the aroma of delicacies is wafting through the air, drawing visitors to restaurants and food outlets to relish the Iftaar meals during the last days of the holy month of Ramadan.

Meanwhile the officials at the department of traffic revealed that diversions were put in place at several major junctions of the city to avoid the prolonged traffic mess.
