Sopore, Dec 25: Two youth in their twenties were killed when their private Wagon R car, bearing the number HR29AA6545, rolled down from Sangri Top in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.
According to a police official, the unfortunate event resulted in serious injuries to both passengers who were traveling in the Wagon R car when it rolled down from the top and fell into a deep gorge.
The injured persons were promptly shifted to the sub-district hospital in Sopore, where one of them, identified as Umar Zaki, son of late Javid Ahmad Zaki of Model Town Sopore, was declared dead on arrival.
The second injured person, identified as Iqbal Najar, a resident of Model Town, was referred to SMHS in Srinagar for advanced treatment.
A doctor at the hospital confirmed the road mishap, indicating that both injured individuals were initially admitted, but Umar Zaki succumbed to his injuries.
Hospital authorities said that the surviving victim, Iqbal Najar, underwent further medical treatment in Srinagar but succumbed after a prolonged battle for his life at the Srinagar hospital.
Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident.
Police stated that the severity of the accident was such that the damaged vehicle is irreparable.
The incident has left the town’s residents in shock, with the memory of both the deceased individuals being recalled as humble and deeply connected to the society.
