Srinagar, Oct 26: In a historic event organized by the Army, Srinagar witnessed a grand ceremony, the magnitude of which hasn’t been seen in the last 75 years. This special occasion marked the 26th Accord anniversary, presided over by the Lieutenant Governor (LG) Governor, and brought together top officers, intellectuals, and distinguished personalities of Kashmir.
Among the esteemed guests was Khawaja Farooq Renzushah, ex-commissioner and present Chairman of Kashmir Society International, as well as the Chief Commissioner of Hindustan Scouts and JK Scouts.
The ceremony aimed to felicitate the Women Achievers Award conferred by the LG to the most distinguished women of Kashmir. These women have made extraordinary achievements in various fields including medical, legal, sports, social work, handicrafts, martial arts, literature, and media. The LG started his speech by acknowledging the historical contribution of women in Kashmir, dating back to Kota Rani, who received blessings from the Sufi saint Hazrat Bulbulshah and is revered by both Hindus and Muslims.
Khawaja Farooq Renzushah, in his statement to the media after the successful conclusion of the event, highlighted the importance of this ceremony. He congratulated the recipients of the Women Achievers Award 2023, including notable figures such as Ms Baseema Anayat from SRM Welkin School Sopore, Ms Humaira Syed, Advocate Rekha Wangnu, Sitara Begum, Ms Shazia Andleeb, Dr Ruqaya Jaan, Anita Chandpuri, Abida War, Tabasum Sulaiman, Masrat Jaan, Uzma Fatima, Nigat Nareen, Indhada Bashir Mir, Ulfat Bashir, Shabista Sabir, Bilquis Mir, Sanober Samander, Shaista Ilyas, Sadia Tariq, Durdana Yousuf, Darafshan Mohidin, Zeenat Zeeshah Fazil, and Samaniya Bhat, who received accolades in their respective fields.
Kashmir Society International expressed hope that other deserving individuals who couldn’t be included in the first phase would be recognized in the second phase of the awards. Additionally, Renzushah expressed optimism that distinguished men contributing significantly through their respective NGOs would also be acknowledged in the upcoming phases of recognition.
