Farooq Abdullah expresses grief over devastating fire in Sonamarg market

Condoles demise of veteran party functionary Sonawallah Parry

Srinagar, Feb 11: JKNC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed shock and grief over the devastating fire in the Sonamarg market, where numerous hotels, restaurants, and shops were completely gutted.
He extended his sympathies to those affected and urged the district administration of Ganderbal, especially the Deputy Commissioner and higher revenue officials, to rehabilitate the victims immediately on a war footing and provide financial assistance to continue their livelihood.
JKNC Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed deep sadness over the incident. In a statement, he said, “Deeply saddened by the devastating fire incident in the Sonamarg market. My office is in constant touch with the local administration to ensure all possible assistance reaches those in need. My thoughts and prayers are with the affected families and businesses. In this difficult time, we stand in solidarity with you and will do everything possible to support your recovery.”

Additionally, Member of Parliament and senior JKNC leader Mian Altaf Ahmed Lahrvi, JKNC MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, and MLA Kangan Mian Mahar Ali expressed their sympathies and called for prompt assistance to the affected individuals.

JKNC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President & Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have expressed profound shock and sorrow over the demise of senior and veteran party functionary Sonawallah Parry of Malu, Tangmarg.

In their condolence message, they extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Dr. Farooq Abdullah remembered late Parry as a loyal and dedicated member of JKNC who remained committed to the party and its leadership till his last breath.

Meanwhile, MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah, who is currently in Makkah for Umrah, also conveyed his condolences. Following his directions, local party leaders and functionaries participated in the Nimaz-e-Janazah, visited the bereaved family, and offered condolences and Fateha Khawani on behalf of the party.

Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal and Provincial President Advocate Showkat Ahmad Mir,North Zonal President Sajad uri and Joint Secretary Khawaja Mohammad Yaqoob Wani also expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family, sharing in their grief during this difficult time.
