Farmers’ awareness programme held at village Kotli Manotrain, Reasi

Jammu, Oct 18: To generate awareness among the farming community, the Department of Horticulture conducted Farmers’ Awareness Programme at village Kotli Manotrain, Reasi under the chairmanship of Director Horticulture Jammu, C. L Sharma.
Addressing the gathering of farmers of the area, C. L Sharma briefed the farmers about the various central and UT sponsored schemes of the department in detail. He urged them to come forward and avail incentives under different schemes of the department.
He impressed upon farmers to start Horticulture activities on commercial lines by adopting latest technologies including plantation of Modified High Density Plantation, Strawberry Plantation by using Drip irrigation, protected cultivation etc. He highlighted the schemes offering incentives for mechanization, digging of Bore Well, construction of Water harvesting tanks for upliftment of their socio- economic status. The Director also distributed fruit plants of different kinds among the participants on spot.
During the tour of district Reasi, he visited Govt. Fruit Plant Nursery, Dagozi Bagh & Raj Bagh and took stock of the various developmental works being carried out in the nurseries.
Later, he convened a meeting of the Extension and Nursery staff of the district to review the implementation of different schemes especially HADP, CAPEX & JKCIP and progress thereof. He directed the staff to achieve the allotted targets under all schemes well in time so that the funds may be utilized in full.
Chief Horticulture officer Rajinder Kumar Lochan briefed the Director about the various developmental works being carried out in the district. He thanked the Director for boosting the morale of the staff and assured him that we will leave no stone unturned to full fill the targets during the financial year.
