Srinagar, Oct 20: The streets of Srinagar resonated with applause as the Sangam Theatre Group from Reasi performed the nukkad natak “Meri Policy Mere Haath.” Supported by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (Government of India), the play focused on educating loanee farmers about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the importance of receiving physical policy documents, making crop insurance more tangible and transparent.
The performance also emphasized the government’s efforts to improve crop insurance awareness through Fasal Bima Pathshalas, which train farmers and address their grievances. The play highlighted the growing threat of climate change and unpredictable weather patterns, reinforcing the crucial role crop insurance plays in providing long-term financial security to farmers.
The message of the play was clear: the Government of India remains committed to ensuring all farmers, regardless of their location, have access to crop insurance, enabling them to secure their livelihoods. The play was performed by Nidhi Singh Thakur, Nia Chauhan, Raja Aamir Khan, Himanshu Darshan, Akram Khan, Munir Ahmed, and Anabia Khan, under the direction of Mohd. Akram Khan.
Officials from the Department of Agriculture and other dignitaries were present to witness the impactful performance.
