Jammu, Sep 19: The proposal for fares to be charged from the passengers travelling in the newly-acquired high-tech e-buses – 100 each for Jammu and Srinagar cities – has been submitted to the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Government, which suggests that the fares will be higher than what the SRTC has been charging from the passengers travelling in its buses as of now.
“We have submitted the proposal to the government regarding fares to be charged from the passengers travelling in the newly-acquired 100 high-tech e-buses in both Jammu and Srinagar,” General Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Ashish Anand told Rising Kashmir.
The Rising Kashmir has reliably been informed that the fares to be charged from the passengers travelling in the newly-acquired 200 e-buses will be relatively much higher than what the SRTC has been charging from the passengers travelling in its buses as of now.
The proposal has been submitted to the government and as soon as it is finalised, the e-buses in both Jammu and Srinagar will be made operational.
The trial run of the e-buses, so far acquired by J&K, has been going on and these buses will still take around three weeks before they are made operational, the General Manager said.
These e-buses have been conducting trial runs on seven routes of Jammu City and an equal number of routes in Srinagar. Apart from the trial run, the concerned authorities have also been inspecting the acquired e-buses as to whether they meet the required specifications or not.
