Rajkot, Oct 21: Showing extraordinary batting skills, temperament, elegance, solidity and sublimity, J&K’s batting trio of Yawer Hassan, skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Qamran Iqbal and Musaif Ajaz powered Jammu and Kashmir to a massive score of 539/7 in their first innings at stumps on day-2 in the ongoing Men’s U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy at Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground-C Rajkot on Monday.
Yawer played a marathon innings of 369 balls, slamming unbeaten double century (203*), studded with 23 boundaries. while Kanhaiya scored 155 runs off 311 balls with 17 fours and one six.

Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 250/3, skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Yawer Hassan showed stellar grit and tenacity to notch up superb centuries.

Both the batters were in sublime form and hit the ball with sublimity elegance, fluidity and grace to make a huge partnership of 275 runs before Kanhaiya’s dismissal.Yawer continued his brilliance and scored a spectacular double ton.

Earlier, opener Qamran Iqbal had scored a thunderous century (109) runs off 90 balls with 16 fours and 2 sixes.

All the three batters along with Musaif Ajaz (41) toyed with the bowling and sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt on what seemed to be a perfect strip for the batters.

J&K were in command 539/7 at stumps today. Yawer was on the crease at 203 and Janib Javaid was on the other end at unbeaten 7 runs.

Left-arm spinner Maurya Ghoghari was the most successful bowler for Saurashtra, who took 6 wickets by conceding 138 runs in his 44 overs, while medium pacer Neel Pandya claimed one wicket.

The fantastic individual and team performances in both the matches of Col CK Nayudu Trophy so far portrait picture of the facilities provided to the players by the Sub Committee JKCA and a big number of preparatory matches the team went through prior to the tournament.

“We play as a cohesive unit. We are being backed superbly by the JKCA Administration and the Support Staff as well. We owe our success to the congenial and positive dressing room atmosphere,” maintained all the match performers.

“J&K batters made a mincemeat of Saurashtra attack in the ongoing Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at Rajkot. Following the century from Qamran Iqbal, Yawer Hassan (203*) & Kanhaiya Wadhawan (155) scored a double ton & a century. J&K was 539/7 at stumps. Well played Yawer & Kanhaiya,” tweeted Brig Anil Gupta.
