Ganderbal, Feb 10: Secretary, Planning Development & Monitoring Department (PD&MD), Dr. Raghav Langer on Friday directed the officers of several departments to work in tandem to achieve the targets under various schemes on time.
The Secretary said this while carrying out an extensive visit to the Ganderbal district where he reviewed progress on various development projects under implementation. He convened a review meeting in which all district and sectoral officers were present.
The DDC presented a detailed profile of the development scenario of the district through a powerpoint presentation. The Secretary was apprised of the initiatives started by the district administration to achieve 100 percent enrolment of out-of-school children. He asked to start bridge classes for the newly enrolled students under the Mashal-e-Gaash programme, an initiative by the district administration to achieve a cent percent literacy rate in the district.
He stressed upon all the officers to further improve the service delivery mechanism in order to provide quality services to the common people. He asked the District Social Welfare Officer to conduct door to door campaign to make common people aware of the welfare schemes launched by the government.
Raghav Langer directed Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti, Circle Ganderbal, to expedite the pace of work on approved Water Supply Schemes. He also asked for ensuring coverage of left-out households under JJM.
The officers of the agriculture and allied sectors were directed to put in all efforts for increasing productivity and ensuring market linkages in order to benefit the farming community. The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Ganderbal, was asked to coordinate with NRLM for the formulation of dairy collection centres by registered Self Help Groups.
The Secretary also reviewed the Fisheries department. It was also informed in the meeting that Ganderbal has been ranked as the number one district in J&K in the implementation of the PMMSY scheme and efforts will be geared up to maintain the status and make the district capable of exporting regular consignments of frozen Rainbow Trout to various countries.
Raghav while assessing the National Rural Livelihood Mission called for exploring the possibility for the establishment of e-platforms to strengthen the e-commerce mechanism.
During the inspection of transit accommodation being constructed at Wandahama, the Secretary was informed that four blocks shall be completed by end of February, one block will be completed by end of March, and the remaining blocks shall be completed by September.
