Experts discuss best practices in paediatric gastroenterology

National conference on ‘PEDGASTROCON’ held at GMC Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 02: Leading experts from across the country who gathered at a highly informative national conference on gastroenterology (PEDGASTROCON) at Department of Paediatrics GMC Srinagar today discussed the latest advancements, research, and best practices in paediatric gastroenterology.
This highly informative conference was attended by paediatricians, healthcare professionals, researchers and students from different medical colleges eager to deepen their understanding of the complexities surrounding gastrointestinal health.
The top notch experts and recognized leaders in the field of paediatric gastroenterology deliberated on a diverse array of topics ranging from cutting-edge research in gastrointestinal bleed, current trends in paediatric acute liver failure management, advancements in endoscopic techniques and innovations in liver disease management.
Dr. (Prof.) Ujal Poddar, Professor and Head Paediatric Gastroenterologist SGPGI Lucknow and a pioneer in paediatric gastroenterology spoke on gastrointestinal bleeding and showcased innovative endoscopic techniques that enhance diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic interventions, significantly improving patient care.
Prof. Seema Alam, Head Paediatric Hepatology ILBS New Delhi deliberated on modern approaches on how to work up a case of chronic liver diseases in children.
Prof. Anupam Sibal Medical Director Apolo Group of hospitals and Head of Paediatric Gastroenterologist Apolo Delhi, an eminent paediatric Gastroenterologist and Liver transplant expert had a detailed talk on neonatal cholestasis.
Among other speakers were Prof. Abdus Sami and Dr. Isaac Malik who talked on corrosive poisoning in children and management of Acute Liver Failure respectively.
The conference also provided ample networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with peers and establish collaborations that could lead to future research and clinical partnerships.
Prof. Muzaffar Jan, HOD Department of Paediatrics, said the national paediatric gastroenterology conference served as a platform for knowledge exchange, emphasizing the importance of continuous education and collaboration in advancing the field.
He said that such conferences not only enhance knowledge and recent advances but also rejuvenated the enthusiasm among paediatricians.
Prof. Muzaffar extended gratitude to all speakers, sponsors, and participants who made this conference a resounding success. “We look forward to future gatherings that will continue to inspire and innovate in the realm of the Department Of Paediatrics,” Dr Jan added.
Prof. Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, emphasized the significant strides being made in the field of paediatric Gastroenterology.
She noted that the relocation of the Paediatric Surgery Department, along with the introduction of specialized subspecialties, marks the realization of a long-standing aspiration within the institution.
The establishment of subspecialties is particularly crucial in addressing the diverse and complex needs of paediatric patients, ensuring that they receive targeted and expert care.
