Srinagar, Dec 16 : Excess security cover of at least 177 prominent persons including IAS, IPS, JKAS, JKPS officers and politicians has been withdrawn in the Jammu and Kashmir .
Sources told KNS that the excess security cover of these prominent persons was withdrawn after a thorough audit of Personal Security Officers (PSOs) deployed with them was conducted.
They said additional security of both retired and serving officers including judged and others have also been withdrawn.
“Few days back, excess security of 20 politicians was withdrawn significantly and PSOs of a number of police officers of SSPs and SPs ranks was also taken back,” they said.
They added two additional or excess PSOs of a former DGP and 3 additional PSOs of a former ADGP were also withdrawn.
“Additional security cover of serving and retired IAS officers, politicians of National Conference, Congress, PDP, BJP, Democratic Azad Party (DAP), People’s Conference, BJP and Apni Party has also been withdrawn,” they said.
Sources said the security wing undertook manpower audit of security provided to different individuals including politicians, civil and police officers and individuals in view of crunch of Personal Security Officers (PSOs).
They said during audit it was detected that many protectees were having excess security cover than their entitlement, hence the excess security was withdrawn.
“They will continue to keep security personnel to which they are entitled as per the category,” they said. (KNS)
