Srinagar, Nov 25: Examinations for students in grades 1 to 9 across all government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir division begin today and will continue until December 9, 2024.
A uniform date sheet for these summative assessments was released on November 9, 2024, by the Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK).
Speaking at a function on Saturday, DSEK Tassaduq Hussain Mir highlighted that all school heads have been instructed to ensure proper heating arrangements for students during the examinations.
“The government is committed to ensuring that the examinations are conducted in a smooth and conducive environment. With the academic session now shifted to November-December, our primary focus is to facilitate a seamless examination process,” said Mir.
He further mentioned that after the completion of the exams, results would be announced promptly, and new classes would begin soon after in the Kashmir Valley.
On October 30, 2024, the Jammu and Kashmir government approved the restoration of the traditional academic calendar for the Kashmir region and the winter zone of Jammu. The academic year 2024-25 will follow the November-December schedule, with examinations for grades 1 to 9 taking place late in the year.
In contrast, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has been directed to conduct board exams for classes 10 to 12 starting from February 15, 2025, with completion aimed by the end of March.
