Jammu, Aug 24: In a significant political development, former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohan Lal Bhagat, a distinguished officer and renowned social worker from Akhnoor, has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today, following his voluntary retirement from service. His entry into the BJP marks a momentous occasion, celebrated with great enthusiasm by party members and the public alike.
Mohan Lal Bhagat offered prayers , which was followed by a grand procession rally from the BJP office in Akhnoor to the party’s headquarters in Jammu, showcasing widespread support for Bhagat’s decision.
At the BJP Headquarters, Bhagat was warmly welcomed into the party by BJP President Ravinder Raina, Member of Parliament for Jammu-Reasi Jugal Kishore Sharma, former MLA and District President of Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma, Akhnoor Assembly Incharge and DDC Vice Chairman Suraj Bhau, DDC members Sharda Bhau and Suresh Sharma, and senior BJP leader Daljit Chib.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravinder Raina expressed confidence in Bhagat’s ability to further strengthen the party, particularly in the Akhnoor region. He took the opportunity to target the National Conference-Congress alliance ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, underscoring the BJP’s commitment to bringing positive change in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mohan Lal Bhagat expressed his admiration for the party’s discipline and vision. He lauded the Central leadership for the historic decision to revoke Article 370, describing it as a bold move that has transformed Kashmir from a region plagued by terrorism into a safe haven for tourists. “Today, tourists can be seen clicking selfies at midnight in Lal Chowk—a testament to the security and peace brought about by the Modi government,” Bhagat remarked.
Notably, Mohan Lal Bhagat was accompanied by more than a dozen sarpanches, further emphasizing the widespread support for his decision to join the BJP.
