Jammu, June 27: Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) J&K and Ladakh on Tuesday conducted “Nidhi Apke Nikat 2.0”, a participatory outreach programme, at Green Model Higher Secondary School, Doda.
Regional Provident Fund Commissioner J&K and Ladakh, Rizwan Uddin, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the session. He explained the importance of social security in today’s scenario. He highlighted the key features of the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 and the Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976. These two prominent social security schemes are being extended to workers in J&K and Ladakh from November, 2019. He also discussed the features of these schemes in detail.
The nominee, of an employee (having been a member of Provident Fund for at least one year of employment) dying while being in service is entitled to a minimum of Rs 2.5 lakhs of insurance. “Maximum insurance under the EDLI scheme is Rs 7 lakh. EPFO is paying monthly pensions to the families of employees who met with accidents a few months ago. Wife and children of deceased employees are entitled to a pension. The wife would get pension till her lifetime,” he said.
The workshop lasted for more than one hour, where Commissioner Rizwan listened to the issues being faced by the establishments and employees. A handholding session continued for another hour in which various stakeholders went live and learnt how to deal with the problems faced by them with the help of Raja Sekhar Dasari, SSSA, the EPFO said in a statement.
O P Chandail, Principal, Green Model Higher Secondary School Doda, thanked the P F Commissioner in taking out his precious time to visit this district and help the employees as well as employers. The representatives of various schools and contractors throughout the district participated in this workshop.
The P F Commissioner thanked the school management for organizing an interactive session where a number of workers and representatives of adjoining schools were present.
Apart from Doda, Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0 programme was also held at DC Office, Kathua by Bipin Kumar, EO/AO; in Kathua, P L Thapa CEO of Education, R K Sharma of Labour Department and Mast Ram Sharma of Chenab Textile Mills were participated along with 74 participants in the program.
Another, programme were organized in Delhi Public School, Budgam by Ankur Janghu, EO/AO; Mehfooz Aslam, Principal of the School were present in the programme and also the program was held in Ladakh Hills International School, Skara Yokama, Leh by Pawan Kumar, EO/AO where Tsering Dorjay, the owner of the school was present in the program.
